Renting a boat – What you need to know

When you’re renting a boat for the first time there are a few things you’ll need to know. Firstly how to drive the boat, moor correctly and use locks, but for this you may need to undertake a quick training programme. A one-day course can guide you through each of these aspects, but you also need to know what boat to choose. There are many different types, from narrow boats to cruisers to small riverboats. If you want a boat that’s medium sized and spacious enough to accommodate 4 people, a Sunray Cruiser is a fine option. It has two double berth cabins, a kitchen area, a canopy for when the weather is wet and central heating throughout. These are relatively easy to handle and if you’re used to driving a car you’ll be able to get to grips in no time. Narrow boats can be trickier to handle but a little bit of practice will go a long way so we recommend you undertake a basic training course first.
