Should you avoid boating in the colder months?

Boating is often described as being fairly seasonal here in the UK and that’s purely because of the weather. You won’t see too many leisure boats on the river in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales. That said, there is no reason why you can’t enjoy the river all year round. If your boat is warm enough, there isn’t really anything to stop you. You can create a cosy atmosphere in your boat and enjoy the pretty scenes along the river without there being too many boats clogging up the locks! Waters rarely freezes in the UK so it’s unlikely you’ll cause damage to your boat by hitting an iceberg. Only kidding but if you have a relatively snug interior and a power supply, you can create a cosy atmosphere that your family and friends will love, so don’t rule out a spot of winter boating every once in a while.
